CACS Head Start and community partners make a fun afternoon accessible for ingham families
CACS Head Start and Ingham Intermediate School District teamed up to create the first-ever Summer Fun recruitment event at Hawk Island Park on Thursday, July 15, from 1 -6 p.m.
The event brought together multiple organizations in the area to enroll children in tuition-free preschool and provide resources for families. Other organizations that attended were Capital Area District Libraries, Ingham County Health Department, Communities In Schools, WKAR – Public Media from Michigan State University, Great Start to Quality, the Lansing School District, and Capital Area Community Services.
Each organization had its own table to pass out information and free swag bags for kids, including books, sensory activities, and snacks. The Ingham County Health Department provided free vision and hearing screenings for children who might not otherwise access these tests.
Families were able to bring their families for free to Hawk Island Park and spend the day playing at the playground, splash pad, and lake at no cost to them. CACS Head Start and Ingham Intermediate School District said they wanted to make the day as enjoyable for families as possible.
At the end of the day, no matter how many families applied for preschool CACS Head Start and Ingham Intermediate School District achieved their goal — making fun and early education accessible to Ingham County families.
Income-eligible families can enroll their preschool-aged child online now at https://cacs-inc.org/how-to-apply/
